My name is Stephanie Norton, and I’m running for Jenkinsburg City Council, Post 2. Jenkinsburg has been my family’s home for many years, and I want to help protect the close-knit, family-friendly community that makes it so special.
I bring over 30 years of professional experience in Human Resources, Ethics, and Compliance with a major corporation, where I focused on fairness, accountability, and helping people succeed. I believe those same skills belong at the council table—listening carefully, asking tough questions, and making decisions with the community’s best interests at heart.
Service has always been central to my life. I’ve volunteered in our schools, food banks, and counseling centers. I was a Girl Scout leader for many years, a Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster, and taught Sunday School at my church. I also ran a small home bakery, so I understand the challenges that local small business owners face.
My husband, Joe, is a retired law enforcement officer who grew up here in Jenkinsburg. After raising our children, we chose to make Jenkinsburg our permanent home because of the strong community values and the memories Joe carried from his childhood.
On council, I will work to keep Jenkinsburg a safe, welcoming place to live, strengthen community ties, and ensure our local government is open and accountable to the people it serves. I am committed to listening, learning, and being a strong voice for all residents.
I believe city government should be open and easy to understand. Residents deserve clear communication about decisions that affect them, and they should always know where to find information. I will work to improve public access to council discussions, keep residents informed about local issues, and make sure questions get straightforward answers. Trust grows when government is transparent, and I am committed to earning and keeping that trust.
A thriving community depends on safe neighborhoods, reliable services, and strong connections among residents. I will support investments in essential services while encouraging programs that bring people together—whether through schools, churches, local businesses, or civic events. My goal is to strengthen the bonds that make Jenkinsburg not just a place to live, but a true community.
Change and growth are part of every community, but they must serve the people who live here. My focus is on improving services and quality of life for residents while protecting the close-knit, small-town spirit that defines Jenkinsburg. We can welcome progress without losing what makes our community unique.
